Lancashire has a bridge club in most major towns, with many having a host system to ensure visitors can get a game. Contact details, club times, beginners, intermediate classes are on the Clubs page though you should check before attending a new club. This website has details of forthcoming competitions and results. Membership of an affiliated Lancashire club  entitles you to play in Lancashire competitions, be eligible for Lancashire County Teams, and attend all Lancashire Council Meetings. ABOUT LANCASHIRE CONTRACT BRIDGE ASSOCIATION (LCBA)

Lancashire Contract Bridge Association is a membership charity (Registration No 1207575).  It provides and enables playing, learning and competing opportunities for players at all levels and works closely with players, clubs, volunteers and officials to help grow the game.

LCBA raises money through various events and competitions and through donations.  All funds are spent on furthering the charity’s purposes.

FREE EVENT - LCBA RELAXED PAIRS

FREE EVENT - LCBA RELAXED PAIRS - 1pm Sunday 12th October 2025 at St Anne's Bridge Club

Open to members of any LCBA affiliated club.

Event details


•    This is a one session MP pairs event targeted at players NGS 6 to 10 at the time of entry.  No player above NGS 10 is eligible to enter;
•    The purpose of the event is to introduce LCBA competitions to a new audience, by offering a relaxed and friendly event at zero cost to the participants;
•    LCBA is paying the costs of this event and ENTRY IS FREE.  This includes refreshments at the mid-session interval;
•    The event will start at 1pm.  There will be a short mid-session interval, and play is scheduled to finish by 5pm;
•    The winners will receive prizes.

LOTL 3rd Season Sep - Dec 2025

The 3rd LOTL season 2025 is scheduled to start on 4th September 2025.

There are 2 divisions. Division 1 has 9 teams and Division 2 has 8 teams.

LCBA ONLINE BLUE POINT SWISS PAIRS

LCBA ONLINE BLUE POINT SWISS PAIRS

  • Oliver Cowan is running a 6 x 6 board Blue Point Swiss Pairs on BBO on Saturday 30th August for the Lancashire Contract Bridge Association.  The game will start at 1pm and finish by 6pm with a 40 minute break half-way through.
  • LCBA is a registered charity and Oliver is running this event to raise funds for the charity to invest in bridge development in Lancashire.
  • The entry for this game is $13 BBO per player and masterpoints will be awarded for each round that you win or draw as well as an additional award based on finishing positions.
  • The game will be on the BBO tournament list under "Lancashire Swiss Pairs" and you will be able to register for the game from 11am on the day.

NBL Match 2 16 August 2025

The second NBL 2025 match was played on RealBridge 16th August 2025.

Lancs A team finished 2nd of 6 teams. The players were S Woodcock/M Fay, A Petrie/J Dhondy, J Smith/M Farr, J & A Wilkins.  Andrew/Jeremy were 2nd on XImps.
Lancs B team finished 4th of 6 teams. The players were B Irlam & J Morrell, A Kirby & S Challinor, P Richmond & J Dearing. D Costich/A Lum. Angus & Stuart we best on Ximps.
Lancs C Team finished 2nd of 4 teams. The players were B Apfel/G Beattie, S Bentley/K Broadbent, P Medowcroft/H Dent, B Perry/S Fanning. Steve & Kenny topped the Ximps

 

LANCASHIRE FESTIVAL OF BRIDGE 2025

This event is being organised by Oliver Cowan on behalf of and in partnership with the LCBA, at the lovely Boltholt Country Park Hotel.  This venue provides an excellent, friendly setting for this congress and whether you want to come for just 1 session or the full 3 days of bridge there will be something to suit everyone!

Scarborough Summer Congress 18 July 2025

Well done to Ann & Jeff Wilkins who finished 2nd in the Swiss Pairs at the Scarborough Summer Congress on 18th July 2025.

NBL Match 1 5th July 2025

Lancs A team finished 3th= of 6 teams. The players were S Woodcock/M Fay, D Hilton/D Fazackerley, J Brearley/A Lum, M Nicholson M Farr.  Sue/Mike & John/Andrew were best on XImps.
Lancs B team finished 1st of 6 teams. The players were J & A Wilkins, B Irlam & P Hepworth, A Kirby & S Challinor, P Richmond & J Dearing. Jeff/Ann Wilkins were best on XImps.
Lancs C Team finished 2nd of 4 teams. The players were B Apfel/G Beattie, S Bentley/K Broadbent, L Hitchen/D Fairweather, H Dent/I Edwards. Brian & Gwen topped the Ximps

LCBA Summer League Teams of Eight 2024

The Summer League Teams of Eight 2024 season is now complete.  Congratulations to the Division winners Preston (Div 1), Brierfield 1 (Div 2) and Brierfield 2 (Div 3). Thanks to the organisers (Andrew Petrie, John Dearing, Jeff Smith) who have been largely instrumental in the planning and organisation of what seems to have been a smooth and successful competition over the summer months. We hope to continue and welcome any further teams to the League in 2025.
